Hello, Growing Up on the Spectrum backers!
🗞️ Guess who's on the FRONT PAGE of the Missoulian today! 📰
It's our very own Tess Langston!
Tess spoke with Missoulian reporter Ivy Secrest about why she felt Growing Up on the Spectrum was needed in the world:
"When Langston looked at the available literature for people on the spectrum, she noticed the vast majority of what was on the market were children’s books or medical books.
"Seeing a gap, she began to conceptualize her graphic novel, written for ages 14 and up.
"'The key thing is better understanding of themselves and of others,' Langston said. 'I want people on the spectrum in general to feel more comfortable with themselves, feel less shame, and have an expansion, to explore themselves. And I want people off the spectrum to have a better understanding and to help us meet in the middle.'"
"She noted she was lucky to have good advocates in her life, but not everyone does. A part of this novel is offering older teens and parents a resource to have these conversations or at least come to a better understanding of autism on their own.
"While Langston cautioned parents from reading this book with their younger kids, due to topics like suicidal ideation, sex education and substance use, Langston said she really encourages parents of both children and adults on the spectrum to have honest conversations about these topics.
"'Adults, especially with kids on the spectrum, they really want to protect their kids because they see them as more vulnerable,' Langston said. 'But preparing them is going to help them, and overprotectiveness is going to hinder them.'"

Fantastic news, Growing Up on the Spectrum backers!
Fulfillment is officially underway! 🥳
The Oneshi Press HQ here in Missoula is abuzz with activity, and every available surface is covered in stickers, books, key chains, and shipping supplies. 📚
We started up this weekend, and we'll continue stuffing envelopes, printing postage, and making trip after trip to our local post office, for the rest of this week. 💪
We appreciate your patience, as we have a maximum of four people here at any given time to work on fulfillment...and we have well over 300 packages to handle! 😮💨
But, if you backed at a physical level, keep your eyes on your mailbox! 👀 Your package and tracking information will be sent to you when your postage is printed, and then you can set up a folding chair and umbrella by the mailbox to wait until your copy of Growing Up on the Spectrum arrives! 📪⛱️
We can't wait to hear what you think! (Hint hint: Post pictures of your book [and yourself, if you like] on social media and tag us @oneshipress! We'd love to see them.)

Locking Addresses 🔐 as We Prepare to Ship!

Hello there, Growing Up on the Spectrum fam!
It's been a few weeks since we updated you, and we want to first thank you for your patience! 🙏 We know you're excited to get your copies of Growing Up on the Spectrum, and we're just as excited to get them to you very soon!
Our workflow has been a little touch-and-go the past month, as the Oneshi Press and Shadowcast Studio crews both spent four days at MisCon last month. Then Tess headed out for Okii Sora Con last week. In between all that, we've been ordering all our stickers, keychains, art prints, tattoos, and other rewards…and planning our epic book launch party for next month! 💪
It's been busy! 😮💨
But we're nearly ready to ship these gorgeous books to you, so we need to make sure your address is up-to-date! 📧
So here's the TL;DR version of this post:
We've just hit the "Lock Addresses" button in BackerKit, which means that you have two days to make sure the address you gave us is still accurate! ⌛
If you've moved since the end of February, you'll need to update the address you've got on file! We don't want your book to end up at the wrong address!
In the meantime, stay tuned! Progress continues on the audiobook and the animatic, and shipping starts soon!

2) The Books Are Signed and Sealed!
We had a little gathering at the Oneshi Press HQ over the weekend, where together with Tess, Court, and Nora, we prepped about 100 copies of Growing Up on the Spectrum! 📚
Nora opened the books, Tess signed them, Court fanned the signatures dry, and Lynsey stacked them while Jayel prepped our Kickstarter-exclusive gold foil seals. Then we all applied the seals to the title pages. 💪
A good time was had by all! (Except for Tess's wrist. That's a lot of signatures!) 🖋️
Next, we'll arrange all the rewards you've ordered, re-assemble our crack team of helpers, and start packing up your books, stickers, art prints, postcards, bookmarks, key chains, and more! 📦
3) Tess Is Recording the Audiobook!
Tess has been sharing her progress on recording the audiobook version of Growing Up on the Spectrum. 🎙️ And honestly? It sounds awesome!
We can't wait to share it with you when it's all edited and ready! 🎧
